What does tyranny have to do with it

Tyranny--
"Oppressive power <every form of tyranny over the mind of man> — Thomas Jefferson; especially : oppressive power exerted by government <the tyranny of a police state> Websters Dictionary »

What is the role of Christians in relation to tryanny?

"All, too, will bear in mind this sacred principle, that though the will of the majority is in all cases to prevail, that will to be rightful must be reasonable; that the minority possess their equal rights, which equal law must protect, and to violate would be oppression. "

Thomas Jefferson

Perhaps you have reservations as to whether many actions of American government are tyrannical.

Let's take a look at a couple of quotes from one of the most respected figures of the time of the founding of our nation and its' constitution..

According to Jefferson, anything that subverts the will, well-being of, or dignity of individuals, (being the smallest group of society), or any other minority is tyrannical.

Here are a couple of important points:

  • When was the last time that you felt that government granted you greater freedom?
  • As we think more globally, and governments aspire to global powers, is it not evident that the same respect for the rights of minorities that Jefferson so eloquently defined would also apply to people of other cultures?
  • The average working Joe or Jane knows from the duplicity they encounter in the work place that placing great amounts of power in the hands of a few will ultimately lead to tryanny.
"All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent."

It is possible that you are about to embark on a colossal adventure. If you step out of the hustle for a little while, it is possible that you might discover some things that will alter the course of your life forever. Ezekiel 36:26

In God we trust

Stepping out of the cares of this life and into true service to God is not mystical. You may hear in church that you need to have a special "calling" or that you need to do this or that. Let's just stick with the Bible. Jefferson and most of the founding fathers of our country worked hard to put Biblical principles into practice in the institution of our government. Here are some things we are called to:

  • We are called to love: John 15:12. This includes loving God, self-love and love of others.
  • Stand against evil: Hebrews 12:2-4.

Flying Safely

Just a little note here: Tune out from the mainstream media channels! Whether or not you get deeply into conspiracy theories, one thing is evident: they are driven by the forces of hell. Let me explain that a little. Here are some quotes of someone who outranks Jefferson.

Trusting GodThou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor's. Romans 13:9

We use the old King James Version throughout this site, but that's OK, I think a person of average intelligence can understand the meaning. Let's pose a couple questions:

  • When was the last time you heard a political campaign that reflected this idea of respect for others?
  • Doesn't it seem that all the politicians are promising that you will have all the things everyone else has by voting for them, whether it be safety or material goods?
  • Does any politician have the power in his grasp to actually deliver on such promises?
  • We are to be subject to governmentup to the point that they cause our obedience to break God's law Romans 13:1-2. However, the following verse leaves no doubt that when governments turn evil, This does not apply. Romans 13:3. If the government is using our tax dollars to kill innocents, whether it is abortion, or war, it is our duty to resist.

The Bible urges us to trust God to supply all our needs.

Flying Free
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.
The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.
Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?
And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?
If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?
Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? Luke 12: 22-28

One more quote...

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. John 8:44.

So we should go to God in prayer, asking Him to supply our need. One other point: If a politician ever makes promises that sound like they may be too good to be true, or if a politician ever made a promise and then broke that promise: do not trust or vote for that politician!
Don't listen to the corporate "Christian" news services. You will find they are owned by the same corporate interests that control the mainstream press. Divorce ourself from lies!
If a politician votes for violence upon some far-off land to buy security, do not vote for the politician. Our occupation in Iraq and Afghanistan is illegal. Read the constitution and find out what constitutes a legal war.
Do some research. If you feel a politician may have been dishonest, Find Out. We are living in the internet age. Knowledge is there for the finding. We need to take Jefferson seriously about doing nothing!
The intent of a godless government is murderous, even if politicians don't think so themselves, and if they have everyone else fooled too! If they do not fear the Lord, they are not to be trusted or obeyed! We may not be far from the time when Christians will be murdered in America for their faith. I hope you will remain faithful.
