I was hanging out with some friends this weekend and it got me thinking about this verse. Someone asked a question and I flipped the bible open and read the below verse. The question was 'doubting the evidence/existence of god, how do I know he's there'.. it spoke perfectly to our conversation as the bible often does. God does reveal himself to those who have an open loving heart and are able to accept him. It's really one of the easiest things to do once you can let go of your own bias/understanding that is fueling your doubt. While that is a lot easier said than done, opening your heart and making yourself vulnerable to yourself and to god can be very difficult. Even though we can do this internally 'to open ourselves up to god' it is still often hard to do. We might feel silly or dumb and sometimes we may not receive what we thought should happen. I would encourage everyone reading this to keep trying and read scripture! The more you read scripture the more sense you can make out of what god is doing in your life today.
I wish everyone who does not believe that still has an open mind could read this verse and understand the truth behind what took place 2,000+ yrs ago. Pretty soon Easter will be here and I feel this is the most important holiday to celebrate and be happy rejoicing in our lord!! I had a past friend who commented on how 'Easter is very sad for Christians because Jesus was crucified and died.' He did not understand that Jesus died so that everyone has the opportunity at eternal life! The point is that death could not overcome and is the biggest lie ever told. Eternal life is what we have to look forward to because Jesus died to save us from our sins. Have a great Easter and please leave your thoughts and comments~!
At that same time Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit, and he said, “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way.
